Yard Service Descriptions

Mowing-
We pride ourselves on our ability to make a lawn look it's best. With the commercial grade mowers that we use, a perfect cut is guaranteed. We have rotor blades as well as reel blades to give your lawn a perfect cut. There is also the option of having the grass mulched, which we highly recommend, or collected. Collected clippings can either be disposed of on your personal property or we can have them removed. If there is a fungus break out on your turf at which point we will collect all the clippings until the outbreak is neutralized.
Grass & Weed Trimming-
In some jobs, not being noticed is a good thing, like with grass and weed trimming. No one looks at a freshly cut lawn and says "Wow look at how nice the weed trimming looks!" It just doesn't happen. But if the grass and weeds aren't properly taken care of the lawn looks unfinished. When the grass and weeds are properly taken care of then the lawn looks well manicured and healthy, and no one notices the weeds.
Post Mowing Clean up-
The job isn't finished until everything is cleaned-off. We use gas powered blowers to blow-off the driveway, sidewalk, flower beds, and porches so that there aren't any grass clippings left behind when we leave. If there are grass clumps visible on your turf we will also remove them as well.
Sidewalk & Driveway Edging-
Edging a sidewalk or driveway gives a lawn a crisp, well maintained look. Edging is usually done every 2 weeks, more if necessary.
Hedge and Small Bush Pruning-
We have the ability to trim and shape small bushes and hedges to suit your needs. With gas powered hedge trimmers and a steady hand we carefully shape the bushes so that they receive the optimum water and sunlight. We also remove the trimmings and dispose them in your compost pile or haul to the dump. We also use our hedgers to get areas around your ponds or pools to minimize clippings in your water scaping.
Leaf Collection-
With the Spring and Fall seasons come the need to remove leaves that remain on the ground. Have you ever seen a yard in the Fall when the leaves have fallen and left for weeks. It doesn't look nice because leaves make your lawn look unkempt, and some leaves can acutely damage your grass if left unattended. So, we can collect and remove leaves, or place them in a compost pile on your property. Either way your lawn will look fresh and healthy while others look like there covered in a leaf blanket.
Fertilizer Application-
All lawns need nutrients to survive and sometimes they need a little help to get them. Poipu Yard Crew, LLC can design several different programs to help your lawn look it's best. We can set up and schedule several applications that continue throughout the season, or we can apply it at your request.
Soil Sample-
If you have noticed unusual coloration of your plants and turf sometimes on new leaves and not on old leaves or vice versa, and fertilizer just doesn’t seem to help. You may have a Ph balance problem which doesn’t allow the soil to break down all the necessary nutrients in the soil. A Yard Tech can do an on the spot check for free, but you may need a more detailed report which entails a Yard Tech gathering several samples of soil and sending it to the University of Hawaii for analysis. Results should be back within 2 weeks. This report kind of looks like a blood test report except it’s for soil.
Bed Maintenance-
The days we service your property we will also remove weeds from your flower/gardening beds. This service also includes the removal of the unwanted weeds from your property. We do not use pesticides for this service. We use some good old fashion elbow grease and a weeder.
Weed & Feed-
This is a fertilizer that promotes turf growth and kills unwanted weeds. This is usually limited to broad leaf type weeds. This may not be to useful if your unwanted weeds are different types of grasses as well. This is usually a good start to give your turf a much needed jump start in the weed wars.
Core Aeration/Dethatching-
Air is vital to healthy root growth. Core Aerating your turf breaks through a thatch layer, enables the roots to breath, and improves water and nutrient penetration. Aerating annually is recommended. Dethatching actually cuts through the thatch with knife-like blades and then removing the debris. It is pretty stressful on a lawn, the lawn ends up looking pretty ratty (temporarily) but it will soon be thriving like it should be without the thatch blocking nutrients from reaching the roots and blocking growth by new grass plants.
Parking Lot Clean-up-
Gas Blowers, brooms, rakes, we will use whatever is needed to get your parking lot looking clean. (Sorry you’re on your own with trying to move your neighbors car). We will work with you to determine when is a good time to do this, to minimize disruption to your business.
